Emergency Responder Breathing Apparatus Controls and Components
Emergency Responder Breathing Apparatus Controls and Components
Market driver: Fire and rescue crews use emergency air breathing systems for management of their air supply and communication. The components must work under changing and extreme conditions.
Test Requirement: The sealed battery packs and the power, command, and communication modules must all be tested to verify that smoke and water cannot infiltrate and thus affect their performance under emergency conditions.
CTSSolution: Several test stands with custom test chambers or sealing fixtures test the individual components utilizing a Sentinel I24 vacuum decay instrument. The Sentinel I-24 I/O is designed to handle start / stop, anti tie down signals and provide tooling outputs and test result signals.
The expanded internal tooling control capability of the Sentinel I24 provides the required outputs to the sealing fixtures on the test stand, thereby eliminating the need for additional PLC controls. This makes the test much simpler to integrate and lowers the initial cost of design and build of the stand.
